What to Wear in the South of France this Summer
Our Senior Stylist, Olivia Hodgson has shared her refined selection of what to wear, where, in the South of France this Summer.

The Article
The South of France has always had its own very specific approach to dressing, polished, yes, but never overworked. This season, that balance feels more important than ever, with a renewed focus on three standout destinations shaping the mood of the Riviera: Airelles Château de la Messardière, the arrival of Zéphyr in Monaco, and the ever-iconic La Guérite. Each brings a slightly different energy, but all demand a wardrobe that feels considered, effortless, and quietly luxurious.
At its core, Riviera style is about restraint. It’s the confidence to keep things simple and let cut, fabric, and tone do the work. Days move easily into evenings, boats into lunches, so versatility is key, but never at the expense of elegance. Colour palettes tend to stay soft and sun-washed ivory, sand, faded pastels, deep navy, punctuated with the occasional bold note in Cannes or Monaco after dark. The emphasis is always on pieces that feel easy to wear but look exceptional in movement and light.

LOCATION: AIRELLES CHÂTEAU DE LA MESSARDIÈRE, SAINT-TROPEZ

With the next season of The White Lotus filming at Airelles Château de la Messardière, Saint-Tropez is about to feel even more cinematic than usual. The setting is grand, slightly dramatic, and very polished, so your wardrobe should follow suit, but in true Provencal style, always without trying too hard.
LOCATION: ZÉPHYR, MONACO

One of the most talked-about openings on the Riviera this season, Zéphyr in Monaco feels fresh in every sense. Newly arrived from London, it’s brought with it a very specific kind of energy, low-key, design-led, and quietly confident, set within Monaco’s equally new Mareterra district overlooking the harbour. Lean into that fresh, under-the-radar energy, keep everything pared-back, modern, and effortlessly precise.
LOCATION: LA GUÉRITE, CANNES

Perched above the water just off Cannes, La Guérite is the epitome of Riviera hedonism done well. Getting there by boat sets the tone immediately, and from that point on it’s all about long, sun-drenched lunches, generous Mediterranean plates, flowing rosé, and music that gradually builds as the afternoon unfolds. The crowd is glamorous but relaxed, and everything feels a little spontaneous. Think easy, sun-soaked glamour, pieces that move seamlessly from swim to table, slightly undone, but still undeniably chic.
